(Media release) State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that
an official ground breaking ceremony for the Georgia Department of Labor's
(GDOL) new Cave Spring Rehabilitation Center (CSRC) will be held at 11 a.m.
Thursday, Oct. 7.
The ceremony will be held at the current location at 7 Georgia Ave. in Cave
Spring. Commissioner Thurmond and other dignitaries will participate in the
event.
The current facilities are being demolished and will be replaced with
state-of-the-art brick and stone facilities providing complete accessibility
for all clients. The new campus will include a building to house classrooms,
administration offices and a cafeteria, as well as a 52-bed dormitory.
The CSRC, administered by the GDOL's Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services
Division, is a comprehensive residential facility serving a variety of
disability populations 18 years of age or older. However, services to
people who are deaf or hard of hearing are the primary emphasis.
