Thursday has been a rough day in the job market, too.

Reports out from the state Department of Labor show a huge spike in first-time unemployment claims in Floyd County vs. September 2007 totals.

Also,  Shaw Industries announced it is idling more than 400 workers as it shuts a plant in Trenton.
