>Next red light camera installation begins: Look for construction to start today on the new red light camera coming to Martha Berry and the Bypass. Crews will begin work on the second red light camera in Greater Rome. The cameras have been credited with reducing accidents in some cases while others, including state Rep. Barry Loudermilk, has questioned the constitutionality of the cameras. Gov. Sonny Perdue just signed Loudermilk's bill regulating use of the traffic cameras.
>River City Bank sets ribbon cutting, founders day celebration for Friday: The 'Founders Day' celebration begins at 8:30 a.m. at River City Bank's new office at Second Avenue and West Third Street. Planned: ribbon cutting, dedication, open house, cake, refreshments.
>Remembering Hamilton Jordan: The former chief of staff to Jimmy Carter's ties to Northwest Georgia were brought home in January at the Greater Rome chamber's annual banquet by Dr. Ken Davis of Harbin Clinic. Davis told of his scheduled, brief chat with Jordan that grew into an hours-long conversation and eventual friendship. Davis' colleague at Harbin and fellow panelist that night, radiation oncologist Dr. Matt Mumber, was the 2008 recipient of the Georgia Cancer Coalition Hamilton Jordan Founder's Award. >That Steak N Shake financial report: We previewed this last week. The company--which has announced plans to build a store at RiverWalk--posted a quarterly loss of $2.8 million vs. a profit of $6 million a year earlier. Sales were down 5.8 percent overall. What gives us the chills. There was no news about new stores. SNS might find the market for premium burgers a bit crowded these days with Fuddruckers and the new Five Guys Burgers & Fries> Steak N Shake
