Phil Gingrey's leaning heavily toward Senate bid
-U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey, who now represents Bartow, Cherokee and part of Cobb counties, says he's learning toward a bid for the U.S. Senate seat Saxby Chambliss will vacate in January 2015.

Shorter's chief financial officer is out
-Stephanie Owens, Shorter University's chief financial officer and vice president of finance, is gone. Owens supervised around 30 employees, including the controller and those in charge of student accounts, financial aid and human resources. The university only confirmed Owens no longer was employed there. She had been with Shorter since August 2004, according to her Linked In profile.

Latest on Courtyard by Marriott project: 
-Rome leaders received an update earlier this week detailing a few changes before the deal is finally cut for the project planned for West Third Street.

State's twice-monthly employment reports to be delayed: 
-Georgia's Department of Labor says the January first-time jobless claims and unemployment report will be out early next month. We'd normally see the jobless claims today. The reason: "Each year at this time, the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics conducts its re-benchmarking process. Simply put, the BLS reviews the previous year's labor market data released each month and enters subsequent data it collects, so that revisions can be made when necessary." Translation: You'll see the January data on March 7 and 14, and the February reports on March 21 and 28.
