(Media Release) Floyd will commemorate American Heart Month by hosting two free Heart Health Screenings: Friday, February 15 at Floyd Medical Center's Medical Arts Center in Rome and Friday, February 22 at Polk Medical Center's Medical Office Building in Cedartown.
Both screenings will be open to the public and will offer tests for blood glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, cholesterol and EKG. Information about heart-healthy nutrition and medical consultations with a physician will also be available.
Participants will also have the opportunity to register for door prizes and will be able to enjoy a variety of heart-healthy snacks.
"Heart disease is the leading cause of death and disability among Americans, so it's important to gather as much information about prevention of the disease as possible," says Tony Gallagher, Clinical Coordinator for Cardiology and Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation. "We're asking folks to do their heart a favor and visit one of our two free clinics."
Floyd will host the first screening on February 15, from 2 pm until 6 pm, at Floyd Cardiac Rehabilitation, located inside the Floyd Medical Arts Center at 304 Shorter Ave. in Rome, Suite 101.
The second of the two screenings will take place Friday, February 22 inside the Medical Office Building at Polk Medical Center, 118 E. Girard Ave. in Cedartown.
Roughly 600,000 people die of heart disease in the United States each year. February has been designated as American Heart Month in an effort to educate Americans about the dangers of heart disease and how it can be prevented.
