Rome-Floyd E.C.O. Center to host whitetail deer forum

ROME, GA — The Rome-Floyd E.C.O. Center will be hosting a free seminar on whitetail deer hunting and management strategies Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the E.C.O. Center facility in Ridge Ferry Park.

Whitetail Wise will be of particular interest to hunters, landowners and outdoor enthusiasts, but all are invited to attend. Topics covered will include herd management, habitat management, recruitment, nutrition and more.

"Our hope in putting together this program is for attendees to have a better understanding of whitetail deer biology and how it relates to the ecosystem in Northwest Georgia," said Ben Winkelman, wildlife conservation specialist with the City of Rome. "The more you know about a species, the better prepared you are as a hunter and sportsman."

While the event is free, donations for the seminar and future programs are appreciated.
