GHC Offers Community Library Cards
(Media Release) The American Library Association has designated September as National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and Georgia Highlands College is offering its cards to the communities it serves. In fact, the GHC libraries are open to all residents of the state of Georgia. The Floyd and Cartersville campuses house excellent collections for research, learning or pleasure.
The GHC libraries make more than 70,000 books available to card holders, including thousands of children's and young adult books, current best-selling fiction and non-fiction. There are also more than 80,000 ebooks and 37,000 magazines, newspapers and journals available through GALILEO, the virtual library that links all Georgia libraries together.
Professional librarians are available, and all of them hold the American Library Association-accredited Master of Science in library and information science, plus a variety of other degrees and certifications.
The Floyd campus library is located at 3175 Cedartown Highway in Rome. The Cartersville branch is at 5441 Highway 20 in Cartersville. Citizens of Rome and Cartersville may come in any time during operating hours (Monday Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to noon) to obtain a card. Or they can call the libraries for more information at 706-295-6318 (Rome) or 678-872-8400 (Cartersville).
