Floyd Co. Sheriff's Department Terminates Deputy

(Media Release) Deputy Sheriff Donnie Lee has been the subject of an internal investigation regarding alleged personal behavior that may have occurred over a period of time related to his part-time employment at Floyd Medical Center. On September 18, 2012 Deputy Lee was placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the internal investigation. On September 19, 2012, Deputy Lee was given an opportunity to clear his name through the investigation. The internal investigation was completed on September 21, 2012 and the report confirms that Mr. Lee acted in a manner inconsistent with the standards of a sheriff's office employee.

He has been found to be in violation of numerous Floyd County Personnel Board Policies and Floyd County Sheriff's Office General Orders. Accordingly, due to the nature of these violations, his employment with the Floyd County Sheriff's Office has been terminated effective immediately. "We have to hold ourselves to a higher standard of behavior and it's always disappointing when we fail to, but more importantly, we are going to hold these people accountable for inappropriate behavior every time we are aware of it" stated Chief Deputy Tom Caldwell.

He has the right to file an appeal of this administrative decision to the Floyd County Personnel Board.
