RACE Rome Sprint & Youth Triathlons Set for September 9 at Darlington

Calling all novice and seasoned triathletes! RACE Rome and Rome Orthopaedic Center are presenting the 5th Annual RACE Rome Sprint and 2nd Annual Youth Triathlon on Sunday, September 9 at Darlington School. The sprint will begin at 8 a.m. and the youth race will follow at 12:30 p.m. Both races are USAT sanctioned.

The sprint race features a 500 yard out-and-back lake swim, 14.5 mile scenic bike ride and 3.1 mile run through Darlington's campus. Don't want to race alone? Relay teams are welcome and encouraged. Race coordinators can even pair you with teammates if needed. Registration is $75 for individuals and $95 for teams.

In the youth race, ages 7 to 9 will complete a 50 yard lake swim, 2.3 mile bike on Cave Spring Road and half mile run. Ages 10 to 14 will swim 100 yards, bike 4.6 miles and run 1 mile. The course is closed to traffic and lifeguards will be in the water overseeing the swim. Registration is $35. All youth racers will receive a medal.

Registration closes September 4 and there will be no race day registration. Proceeds benefit The Open Door Home, and new this year, the tri club, group or school with the most participants will receive a $250 donation to the charity of their choice.
