Garden Lakes Elementary gets new homework center

SCANA Energy will celebrate its new homework center at Garden Lakes Elementary School on Thursday, November 17, with an Open House for its students and their parents.  The event will be held at the school on 2903 Garden Lakes Boulevard in Rome from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. 

 

The Garden Lakes Elementary Homework Center operates from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays.  The center serves 30 third and fifth grade students.  "The SCANA Energy Homework Center is already proving to be a huge success for our students," says Mary Alcorn, principal of Garden Lakes. "Our students and their parents are enthusiastic about the program and its benefits.  Garden Lakes Elementary is so fortunate to have this partnership with SCANA Energy."

SCANA Energy Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills.  Each homework center operates with two certified teachers who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, an assistant, snacks, and student incentives.  Additional Georgia Homework Centers include elementary schools in East Point, Macon, Marietta, Norcross, and Tucker.
