Etowah River Bacteria Monitoring For Sept. 14

 

 

Attached please find our Etowah River bacteria graphic for Sept. 14. The geometric mean for our three testing sites this week was 73.3 cfu/100ml, below the U.S. EPA safe limit of 126 cfu/100ml. Below please find the data for each of our three monitoring sites for the week:

Since CRBI began this testing program in March, the geometric mean of the three testing sites has been within "safe limits" in 21 of 25 monitoring events. After heavy rainfall on Sept. 5-6, no rain fell in the area prior to our Sept. 14 sample date. This monitoring program has shown a strong correlation between rain events and bacteria levels, with levels increasing after rain events. www.coosa.org
