Slightly cooler today through the weekend; 40-60% chance of rain
-Wednesday afternoon's surprise storm seemed to pop up over Armuchee and intensify as it moved south. Gusts of 44 to 57 mph were reported. Rainfall ranged from half an inch in Armuchee to 1.40 inches in West Rome. About 20 trees are down, mostly in West Rome, says Floyd Emergency Management Director Scotty Hancock. Up to 3,000 were without power Wednesday evening, says Hancock.
-Thursday: 40% rain chance, high of 93, low of 73.
-Friday: 60% rain chance, high of 89, low of 71.
-Saturday: 30% rain chance, high of 88, low of 70.
