Planned expansion, renovation at Redmond could be worth $30 million:

-John Quinlivan, Redmond Regional's new chief executive officer, will lead the hospital through a major renovation and expansion. "I expect that within the next month or two, we'll have a complete master plan that we'll be able to share with our board," he says. Included: A potential medical office building on Redmond's campus plus a "more modern facility, larger and better lit, the way modern hospitals look." More shared resources with HCA's Cartersville Medical Center and Polk Medical Center also are on the way. Details

AOL's 'Patch' community websites spread to Cartersville

-The online news wars are just beginning in Northwest Georgia. A concentrated national push by AOL into community-based websites is sweeping the nation, especially metro Atlanta. The company has hired a fleet of former Atlanta Journal-Constitution writers to "anchor" community websites inside and outside the Perimeter. One of the newest is the addition of Cartersville Patch. Remembering Dr. Amber Prince, honored Berry educator: Dr. Amber Tipton Prince, 60, of Armuchee died Monday. She taught at Berry College for 27 years and was honored repeatedly for her devotion to her students and the college. Amber
