Today/National Mammography Day celebration, 6-9 a.m., Chick-Fil-A Dwarf House, Shorter Avenue. Join The Breast Center staff and Floyd Breast Health Advocates for the annual Pink Day. Floyd staff members and volunteers will be handing out window decals and educational information to encourage women 40 and over to schedule an annual mammogram and Clinical Breast Exam. Coosa Valley took over the former branch office of Regions Bank, shuttered earlier this year as part of a Regions' cutback.

Bodiford will be the speaker.  Judge Bodiford is noted for presiding over cases such as that of Brian Nichols, the Fred Tokars murder case and that of the Tri-State Crematorium (in Walker County).  Noon, The Palladium.

Cartersville's Pilot Travel Center sells $259,234 lottery ticket; no winner yet

-A customer of the Pilot Travel Center at 968 Cass-White Road is holding a Fantasy 5 ticket worth $259,234. The numbers drawn Oct. 4 produced two winners--one in Augusta and one in Cartersville. The winning numbers: 9-11-13-24-35. The Augusta winner has been identified (click here) and has claimed that share of the prize. Pilot Travel Center also will get a $5,000 retailer bonus as did the Augusta merchant.
