Lance named president of Greater Rome Bank
-David J. Lance Sr. is the new president of Greater Rome Bank. In a statement, Tom Caldwell, chairman of Greater Rome Bancshares Inc., said, "... our bank must expand its business model in an orderly manner and we think that Mr. Lance possesses the necessary level of experience together with a most successful track record, to guide and direct that effort." -Lance replaces Dwight Stout, who had been with the bank since its founding in 1996 and had risen within the ranks to the presidency.
-Lance had been president and chief executive officer of North Georgia National Bank until he was ousted last December by the board. Speculation on his joining Greater Rome Bank began earlier this year after the Rome-based bank sought permission from state regulators to open a branch in Calhoun. Local Arby's restaurants are closed. According to the local general manager, both Arby's locations in Rome at 805 Martha Berry Blvd. and 2885 Martha Berry Highway, along with the Rockmart location at 1301 Nathan Dean Parkway, are closed until further notice. Customers reported doors were locked while they were eating breakfast this morning. A sign on the entrance to the Martha Berry location simply read: "Closed until further notice." The highway sign appears to the right.
