Dining & Drink updates
-Moonlight on the rise: The Moonlight Restaurant is open in West Rome at 1818 Redmond Circle, the former spot of Down South Country Cooking. Owner Tina Zhang says her new restaurant features a home cooking menu with your choice of entrée, two side dishes and bread. Average price range is between $6.50 and $9. The restaurant is open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. To-go orders are available by calling 706-237-6551. (By Natalie Simms)
-Wendy's hiring at Martha Berry location: Put on hold by a fire several months ago, the Wendy's at 711 Martha Berry Blvd. is close to reopening. The sign in front of the restyled restaurant urges applicants to go to other nearby Wendy's. We have calls into the ownership group for a definitive reopening date.
-Which brings us to Waffle House at 601 Turner McCall: We got several answers on the fate of the store near Floyd Medical Center from "they haven't decided
yet" to "that's a good question." It also had fire damage. Calls are in, too.
-Opi's Roadhouse is getting close at Ga. 53 & 140: This is an excellent example on Facebook on how to keep fans interested as the opening of Opi's Roadhouse draws closer. A late September opening was planned but looks doubtful. The original also was damaged by fire. (Latest photo, right)
-This Bud's for you... and you ... and: Rome is among the communities taking
part in Anheuser-Busch's "Grab Some Buds" campaign, seeking to put a head on the stale sales of the flagship brew, Budweiser. Details. Included is the company's first National Happy Hour set for 5 tonight across the nation. Look for the Rome party to start at 333 on Broad and then move to other spots throughout downtown. Restaurants also are serving Bud specials this week, including two-for-one Buds or discounted draughts (Johnny's).

-Living & Giving at 440 Broad St. has reopened after a two-and-a-half-week renovation. Owner Lisa Landry says she expanded the four-year-old store just by creating a more open design, not adding any additional square footage, along with a new paint scheme. "We added a new custom counter and took out the old counter space which allowed us to add a section for baby gifts and we've added a new bath and body line," she says. The store is carrying a number of new products including Caldrea, a line of organic lotions and detergents; Illume candles; and small occasional chairs and love seats. "We've added a number of things that go with our store theme of natural and organic. We've even changed our logo and store graphics to be more about nature," Landry says. Living &d Giving is open Monday-Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
