New name, new owner for Calhoun outlets. More changes on (and off) Broad Street.

New name, new owner for outlets:

-Make that Calhoun Prime Outlets when referring to the more than 50-store-strong off-price retail center just off Interstate 75 and Ga. 53. Prime Outlets has been purchased by Simon Property Group in a $2.3 billion deal. Twenty other properties were included in the deal. A Simon representative says the company is "very excited to be the new owners as the center has a terrific mix of stores and a strong loyal following." The purchase increases Simon's hold on Georgia retail centers, including Town Center in Kennesaw, Phipps Plaza, the Mall of Georgia, Discover Mills and North Georgia Premium Outlets. Media release

Changes continuing along Broad Street:

-The Partridge on Broad grows--and glows: The "signs" of change at The Partridge restaurant at 330 Broad St. start with the flashing neon signs outside. Inside, things also changing. The expanded dinner menu is being served Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with a lot of owner/chef Andre Rodriguez's Sassafras Grille favorites: Steaks, seafood and even larger "blue plate specials" from lunch time are available those nights. Alcohol service is on the way, now that the restaurant has been approved by the city to begin pouring. Until then, customers are invited to bring their own, says Rodriguez.

-J.L. Todd Auction Co. moving to Bale Street:

Rome attorney Joe Marion has the auction company's 531 Broad St. office under contract. The building was part of the sale of the estate of the late J.L. Todd. The company will move to the former home of Vision Graphics at 28 Bale St., behind the former home of K-98, in around 45 days, says Frank Coker. Remodeling is scheduled

to start today and, once done, J.L. Todd will

have "twice as much space as we have now," says Coker, the company's president and CEO. While the move takes away some of the company's visibility, is shouldn't touch overall operations because there isn't much walk-in business, says Coker. JL Todd
