South Rome project would be home to 'high-quality' senior rental housing: Etowah Terrace comes before Rome's Community Development committee this morning. Initial plans for the South Rome riverfront project call for "77 high-quality, affordable rental units and office space for Mercy Senior Care." It is billed as a two-phase, mixed-use development targeting seniors. More details are expected at the meeting set for 8:30 a.m. in the Sam King Room at City Hall> Etowah Terrace

-The VW Effect at $55 million so far: Lots of eyes are watching the Chattanooga area as the new VW plant begins to rise. Businesses and communities on the Georgia side of the state line are hoping related construction or supply needs will come soon. With an agreement now in place to string temporary power to the VW site, the company reports $55 million worth of contracts have gone to Chattanooga-area businesses so far. Click VW
-Partners In Prosperity II Kick-off Breakfast is Feb. 20: The Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce is inviting members to the event set for 7:30-9 a.m. at Coosa Country Club. Partners in Prosperity is "a five-year, $2.5 million plan to
implement essential economic and community development initiatives which will help ensure our region's continued progress, development, vitality and prosperity."
