Gas prices haven't been this low since January 2007
Gas prices continue to drop in Northwest Georgia and across the state. What's surprising: Prices are more than a dollar less than the same time a year ago and are nearing a two-year low as above chart from www.georgiagasprices.com shows. Prices in our area are in the $1.96 per gallon range today. For prices in your neighborhood, click MSN Gas and enter your Zip code.
>The big question: Will prices remain this low, or even lower, as the Thanksgiving and Christmas travel seasons arrive.

So much for a 'House' cleaning: Glenn Richardson appears headed for a new term as House Speaker; Jerry Keen as House majority leader (although Ranger's Tom Graves gave it a run). The final numbers: Richardson, 75; Rep David Ralston, 25. In the majority leader race: Keen, 70, Graves, 30. Both were secret ballots for some arcane reason. Rep. Katie Dempsey, R-Rome, did not return our call or e-mail. She told the Rome News today she voted for Richardson. For more on Monday's votes> Insider Advantage
