Elections 2008: The longest day, a longer night?

-Keep the coffee pot out this evening. Election results could be brewing most of the evening even under the best conditions. The massive turnout during "early" balloting is expected to continue today, perhaps past 7 p.m. when polls are due to close. Elections officials vow that anyone in line at 7 p.m. will cast a vote today.

-Mohawk reports a net quarterly loss of $1.39 billion: That's compared to profits of $122 million a year ago. The fourth quarter also looks rocky, a company release states. Mohawk has closed the Armuchee plant (158 jobs) and three others in North Georgia since February. The latest: 231 jobs in Catoosa County> Mohawk

-RNT circulation down 4% in a year, Trend reports: The "Rome" edition of Georgia Trend features a closer look at the state's newspapers, including the Rome News. You'll find comments about daily circulation dropping 4 percent to 17,500 in a year as well as highlights of the group's new press, videocasts and delivery arrangements with the AJC and others> RNT
