Looks like an old-fashioned newspaper war in Northwest Georgia

:-Rumored for months, the Chattanooga Times Free Press has a new daily edition serving Catoosa, Dade, Walker and Whtifield counties both in print and online. Readers will find a separate front page and updated pages inside. As for the Web version: Look for more daily local news and videos. Click North Georgia.

>In addition to a gutsy move in today's environment, the daily print and Web editions go up against a string of weekly/semi-weekly newspapers owned by the Rome News' parent company as well as the The Daily Citizen in Dalton.

>Says a release:  "The Chattanooga Times Free Press is the largest circulated newspaper in North Georgia, distributing 99,029 papers to subscribing households each week." Said Jason Taylor, president: "Our readers and advertisers in Northwest Georgia have been asking us to increase our presence, and it is time we meet their needs."

>What to watch for: The North Georgia counties also are within the huge new footprint of Chattanooga's Volkswagen plant.  It is a very strategic move by the Times Free Press as new growth begins. For more, click SNPA
