2008 vote
Absentee voting for the Nov. 4 general election begins Monday: Here's one reason for the sudden surge in campaigning: As per state law, absentee voting for the Nov. 4 election--in which we pick a new president, vote statewide on a U.S. Senate seat and decide local/regional candidates--begins Monday. You can apply for an absentee ballot at the elections office (click) or by mail. Advance voting for the election is set for Oct. 27-31. Elections officials are asking voters to take advantage of absentee or advance balloting because of the huge turnout expected Nov. 4--perhaps 80 percent.
Health
With Cartersville center open, what's next for Harbin Clinic? The past two years have been nothing shy of boom times for Rome-based Harbin Clinic. In almost back-to-back-to-back fashion, Harbin has opened:
- The Specialty Center next to its Southeastern Cardiovascular Institute.
- A 20,000-square-foot medical office building in Cedartown.
- A dialysis center in Summerville.
- The 73,000-square-foot campus in Cartersville near Home Depot.
- And the extensive renovations at the main Harbin office on Martha Berry.
So what's next? Lots of speculation but nothing concrete--so to speak.
