Tuesday's Buzz:

>Changes coming to local hotel scene: Look for the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites to officially have that "flag" by Thursday. The new hotel next to Country Inn & Suites off U.S. 411 will be the only Holiday Inn in town as the Skytop will go under the Ramada Inn flag. We have a call into Skytop's manager. Ramada has been out of the market for several years since before the Country Hearth changes.

>Rome High games to be on 95.7 The Ridge: Rome Braves broadcaster Josh Caray will be doing the play-by-play for Rome High Wolves football games starting with the season's second game, Sept. 5, at Hillgrove. Caray and the station will still be doing Rome Braves' baseball on Aug. 29 (Braves' season ends Sept. 1). Q102 had been doing RHS games but is changing formats to a "game of the week" this year. Q102 will cover the Aug. 29 RHS game at East Paulding. Also from WLAQ/The Ridge: On Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 23-24, listen for High School Football Previews with all the area coaches.  The show begins at 9 a.m. that Saturday and after the Braves' game that Sunday> RHS schedule

With 20 games to go in the season, the Rome Braves suddenly are the hottest team in the South Atlantic League. With 10 wins in 12 tries and 9-1 in the last 10, Rome continues to find ways to win. Monday's score: 9-6 over the visiting Hagerstown Suns. The Braves are 5.5 games behind first-place Augusta with 12 home games left. Is there an August miracle brewing?

>Democrats going for a sweep Saturday: The broom kind as party members help clean near the Oakdene district from 8:30-11 a.m. and help register voters.

>Saxby on talk radio again: U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, stung by Rush Limbaugh on Friday's show and then by a Phil Gingrey release on Saturday, went on Neal Boortz's show Monday to defend the bipartisan energy plan.

>Note to politicians -- Red, white  & BBQ is in: Make that two-for-two in barbecue runouts this past weekend as events for both County Commission hopeful Irwin Bagwell and Sheriff Tim Burkhalter served all they had, and then some.

>Deadline to register for the education SPLOST vote is Monday: The books close Aug. 18 on the Sept. 16 $80 million tax proposal; if you're a new or lapsed voter, you'll need to register to vote on the package.
