Kroger developing a real java fix ... : First the local Kroger stores began opening Starbucks cafes. Now comes a pitch to buy Mission Grounds Gourmet Coffee for home consumption with proceeds going to Children's Restoration Network. The money will provide backpacks and school supplies for children living in local homeless shelters. The Costa Rican coffee goes on sale in July, which means it misses next week's grand reopening of the East Rome store (sale starts Sunday).

... and buy some lemonade outside the store for a good cause Saturday: Jack, Will and Lilly Anne McClain of Rome are taking part in the nationwide Pink Lemonade Brigade on Saturday to help raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of Rome. They're among 1,000 kids nationwide taking part in the program sponsored by Crayons beverage. Crayons sent the stand and the lemonade; the kids do the rest. The local stand will be in front of the Kroger store at Riverbend Center from 10 a.m. until noon. For more, click Lemonade

More rue21: The new store at Mount Berry Square features a grand opening at 6 p.m. a Q102 remote broadcast from 6 to 7 p.m., drawing for $20 mall gift cards throughout the day and a grand prize of a $100 rue21 gift card.
