>Mannino's pitching lean, green drivin' machines:
Guy Mannino's timing is right. The question is whether the market is ready for what he's offering. The former Pirelli Tire North America president and CEO started Verdek last year and is busy promoting ZAP electrical vehicles (zero air pollution) including the two pictured here. The Xebras sell for $12,000 for the sedan and $12,500 for the truck. They travel at speeds up to 40 mph and can get 25 miles on a charge (that charge costs 25 to 75 cents). For more on both, click Verdek-EV. Says Mannino's media release: "We need to stop blaming the oil companies and start taking action ourselves. If every corporate fleet in America would make the decision to convert 20 percent of their fleets to electric, the impact would be significant and immediate."
