Thanks to the sponsorship support of Harbin Clinic, the event is free to the public and will include free family games, a concert by the Rome Symphony Orchestra and fireworks show.
Parker Fibernet is a new sponsor this year and will be responsible for facilitating the fireworks show. Parker FiberNet is donating all their services so that Harbin Clinic's sponsorship dollars will go further in purchasing more fireworks as well as larger shells.
Richard Garland, Executive Director of the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority stated, "We are excited to have the sponsorship support of Harbin Clinic who makes this event possible, and Parker Fibernet who will make this a show you will not want to miss. With both sponsors on board, this year's show will be the largest fireworks show ever hosted in Rome."
The Rome Symphony Orchestra will perform a traditional patriotic music concert prior to the fireworks show, with a short set immediately following the fireworks.
Family games will be added to this year's event line-up and include Watermelon Eating Contest, Hula Hoop Contest and Three-Legged Race. Families are encouraged to participate in the free games; prizes will be awarded. There is no pre-registration, but interested participants should meet at the Ridge Ferry Stage at 6 PM to sign-up.
Vendors will be on-site to sell refreshments and treats. There will also be a children's play area where the public can purchase entry into the water slides and inflatables.
The public is encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for lawn seating.
Parking and event admission is free. The parking lot at Burwell Creek will be closed on Thursday, July 4. The public can access Ridge Ferry Park from the Farmer's Market and Shoals parking lots. Additional parking is also available across the street from Ridge Ferry Park. Handicap parking will be available in the park.
