-Lee Green, instructional technologist for Floyd County Schools, has been selected to attend the next Google Teacher Academy in Chicago.
-Floyd County Sheriff Tim Burkhalter and Rep. Katie Dempsey have been appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal to the Governor's Office of Children and Families Board.
-Race officials have announced next year's Berry Half Marathon and 10K will be held March 29, 2014.
-Darlington's Kelly McDurmon and Kent Harrison have each received Coach of the Year honors for their respective work with the wrestling and softball teams in 2012-13.
