Art Walk returns to downtown Rome this Saturday

 Media release: The Rome Area Council for the Arts, in partnership with the City of Rome Downtown Development Authority , will sponsor a downtown Art Walk on Saturday May 11.  From 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Broad Street will be filled with local painters, potters, photographers and crafts makers who will be selling and demonstrating their art. Local businesses and artists are sponsoring the Art Walk to benefit RACA. 

Participating painters include Nadia Krasnoperoba Brown, Aleksandra Egorova, (Russian oil paintings), Stephanie Kipfer, Art D'Ambrosio, Scot Wingert and Heather Panek.  The folk art of Ken Gentle (Blacktop) will be available at his studio. 

Photographers  will include  Jason Blalock, Bill Bussey , Paul Shoffner and Ryan Smith.  

Carved walking canes, boxes, bird feeders  and other wood  items will be available  from  Jim Farquhar .

Several jewelry makers will participate, including Susanne Schuepbach,  June Manis,  JeLayne Hernandez ,  Rolene Johnson,  Jane Lowrey (Hoot Owl Creations)  and Heather Panek .

John Johnston, Lisa Brown Ingram and Lisa Smith will have pottery.  Dwain Rutledge will feature a collection of wooden birdhouses, foot-stools and paintings.

Sephanie Kipfer will have handmade scarves and other items.  Becky Ferguson (B's Best Handcrafted Gifts) will feature crocheted jewelry, summer scarves  and decorative mini-pillows. Amy Young will have a collection of whimsical painted windows.  Mindi Miles will have children's jewelry, headbands and hair clips and will also have items from Southern Bottlelites at her booth. 

Members of Rome Area Writers will be selling books by local authors and members of the 8th Regiment Band will have CDs of their Civil War-era music for sale.  Visit downtown Rome on Saturday, May 11 and stroll Broad Street  for a wonderful day of art!  Maps showing locations of artists and sponsoring businesses will be available by Thursday at the RACA website, www.romearts.org .
