Strike Out Child Abuse raises almost $3,000 for Family Resource Center

Media release: The Exchange Club Family Resource Center held its fourth annual Strike Out Child Abuse bowling tournament last night. Seventeen teams and many spectators filled the Classic Lanes Bowling Center on Huffaker Road to share in the fun and entertaining event. The event raised $2,890 and all the profits go directly to the Family Resource Center.  Awards were given for the Highest Scoring team, Best Team Costume and Best Team name.

"We couldn't have pulled this off without the generosity and support of local businesses and individuals, and the community in general," said Robin Hice, a Family Resource Center Board of Directors member and the organizer of Strike Out Child Abuse. "As a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating child abuse and neglect, The Family Resource Center must work hard to meet the needs of families in our area on a shoestring budget.  We are very thankful for and in need of further monetary support.  The Center is also fortunate to have outstanding staff members that are passionate about their work. They perform the daily hands-on work that is so crucial to supporting the families we work with."

"Proper parenting, while challenging, is essential to our community's youth" Hice believes. "The Family Resource Center helps ensure that our community's youth receive such parenting."

Local attorney, Jason Sanker, FRC Board President, states that FRC mission is to provide education and support services to families in Floyd County in order to strengthen the parenting and life skills of the parents and to prevent child abuse and neglect within these families.
