Model's Chris Akins wins state cross country title

Media release: Model's Chris Akins has been ahead of the pack all year on area cross-country courses. Akins finished first once again on Saturday, November 9th to take the state Class AA boy's cross-country title in Carrollton with a time of 17:07. The Model Blue Devil boys placed 5th in the state meet.  Akins also took first place at the Region 7-AA meet at Georgia Highlands and paced his Model Blue Devil team to a region title. In the region meet, Akins finished first with a time of 16:47, Christian Stevens placed 3rd; Hunter Casey, 8th; J.C. Fisher, 9th; Trey Leonard, 21st; Warren Manis, 30th; and Seth Adams, 32nd. 

The Model Blue Devil girls team also competed in the State Meet and finished 9th overall.  The Model Cross-country team was coached by Paige Reece.
