Rome's Thad Watters honored as the Boys & Girls Club's statewide member of the year

Media release: This year has been monumental for local resident Thad Watters. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia presented him with the Boys & Girls Club's "From the Heart" Award earlier this year for more than 25 years of service to the organization. The Executive Director then nominated him for the Georgia Board Member of the Year Award and he recently won the award over hundreds of board members representing 36 different Boys & Girls Club organizations throughout the state.

Over the years, he has served as the Board President and Vice President, as well as been a member of every committee at one time or another. He currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee and the United Football and Cheerleading (UFC) Committee, which operates the youth football and cheerleading program in Rome, serving more than 1,000 youth per year. His Boys & Girls Club leadership also extends beyond Northwest Georgia in his role as the Chairman of the Georgia Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs.

"I'm very proud of Thad and thankful that he is one of our board members and has been recognized throughout the state for his efforts. He works extremely hard on our behalf and truly exemplifies what it means for a board member to share their time, talents and treasure," said J.R. Davis, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Georgia.
