Rome High places second in Berry College Mathematics Contest

 

Media release: Berry College hosted the Spring 2012 High School Berry College Mathematics Contest on Thursday, April 12.

 

Of the nine high school teams that competed at the event, the top three teams were:  1^st –Tattnall Square Academy, 2^nd – Rome High School, and 3^rd –Soli Deo Gloria Home Educators. Top individuals student winners were:  Jordan Benjamin (Soli Deo Gloria) - 1^st, Taylor Holloway (Tattnall) - 2^nd, and Joseph Thublin (Tattnall) - 3^rd.

 

Participating schools included: Cartersville High School (Cartersville), Coosa High School (Floyd County), Harris County Senior High School (Harris County), Model High School (Floyd County), Northwest Whitfield High School (Whitfield County), Rome High School (Rome), Soli Deo Gloria High School (McDonough), Southeast Whitfield High School (Whitfield County), and Tattnall Square Academy (Macon).

 

Berry College hosts the competition to promote and encourage mathematical excellence. Several Berry students and mathematics faculty worked with the event. Dr. Martha Tapia, Associate Professor of Mathematics Education, is the faculty supervisor for the event.
