Exchange Club promotes Blue Mondays initiative in April to increase awareness of child abuse prevention

Media release: Exchange, America's Premier Service Club, is introducing a nationwide effort to increase awareness about the Prevention of Child Abuse, by inviting the public to join its "Blue Mondays" initiative and wear blue every Monday in April in observance of this critical issue.

The Blue Ribbon symbolizes more than 3 million children who are reported to Child Protective Services each year as being abused or neglected throughout the United States.

"We want everyone to stand with us and wear blue on Mondays in April to create greater public awareness of this tragic problem, and to do what they can to make a difference in the lives of children and families," said Sid Mobley, National Exchange Club President. Locally, the Exchange Club of Rome is participating in the Blue Mondays observance.

In addition, the Exchange Club of Rome will host a Believe in the Blue event on Saturday, April 21st at 11 am at the Town Green.   Hundreds of blue balloons will be released that day at 11 am.  Each balloon will represent $1 raised for the Exchange Club Family Resource Center.  "One dollar tickets are for sale, just ask an Exchangite," says Child Abuse Prevention Month Chair, Robert Smyth.
