April 7: First Saturday at the Fairgrounds back again this year

Media release: The Exchange Club of Rome will bring back on April 7, 2012 the First Saturday at the Fairgrounds--  the yard sale/garage sale/swap meet/flea market, all rolled into one-- at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds.  The monthly event will run April through September, and be held on the first Saturday of each month.  The 10'x10' booths that will be for lease will be inside the Mather Payne Special Events Building; so rain or shine, yard sale vendors and goers will be out of the weather.

"The cost of a booth is minimal," says Grounds Utilization Committee Chair, Scottie Edwards, "and it is the perfect fund raiser for any organization."  But the event is not limited to non-profit groups:  anyone who needs to have a yard sale can rent a space and bring their wares to the fairgrounds on the first Saturday of every month.  The sale will be from 8 am until 1 pm.   There will be no admission charge and parking is free!  The cost of a 10'x10' enclosed booth is only $25 per Saturday.  Non-profit organizations will be charged only $20.  There is also a discount for long term commitments, too.  "We do not furnish tables or chairs," says Edwards, "and if anyone needs power, there will be an additional charge."

"We are proud to host the First Saturday at the Fairgrounds again this year," says Coosa Valley Fair President, Cathy Kerce.  "Our main goal is to help our community, and this is just one more way other than the annual Coosa Valley Fair," she says.

All Exchangites in Rome are members of the Coosa Valley Fair Association.  Money raised at the Coosa Valley Fair is for the programs of service of the Exchange Club of Rome.  Exchange, America's Service Club, is a group of men and women working together to make our communities better places to live through programs of service in Americanism, Community Service, Youth Activities, and its national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse.

For more information on renting a booth at First Saturday @ the Fairgrounds, contact Scottie Edwards at (706) 346-5998 or Barbara Carter at (706) 232-0447.  The booths are going fast, so don't wait.
