(Media Release) When Coosa High School senior Seth Broome was deciding on a senior project, he wanted his project to be meaningful and beneficial to a friend. He was successful in both aspects as the golf tournament he decided on for his project taught him a lot about organization, raised a great deal of money and it benefited an injured friend. Broome's tournament raised enough money to presented a $9500.00 check to fellow classmate Benjamin Masters. Masters was injured at the beginning of the school year in an automobile accident.
The benefit golf tournament was held at Meadow Lakes Golf Club in Cedartown. The four-man scramble format tournament featured 25 teams. Also, 22 area business sponsored holes in the tournament and others donated food to raise additional funds. Coosa coach Zach Morrison assisted Broome with the golf tournament as his senior project mentor.
Broome developed the fund raiser as a senior honors project for his Honors Prep graduation requirements. H
e will receive a Honors Seal on his diploma when he graduates in May. All seniors in the Honors Prep program are required to complete a senior project to qualify for the Honors Prep seal to be added to their diploma. This advanced program of study for students in Floyd County Schools is among the top college preparatory programs in Northwest Georgia. The Honors Prep program was developed to provide students in the Floyd County with courses designed to prepare them for the rigors of the most demanding college or university. The program consists of advanced level courses, including Advanced Placement (AP) courses that students may take for college credit.
