-Rockmart's 'Hometown 1220' on the way; Shannon returns:By the middle of next week, you'll be hearing a new sound, an old friend and a new direction at 1220 AM WZOT. The station will be known as Hometown 1220, playing classic country music, midday broadcasts of conservative talker Michael Savage and Rockmart High football games. Anchoring the morning show beginning at 6 each weekday will be Bob Shannon, right, a longtime Northwest Georgia radio personality most recently in Dalton and previously at WGAA in Cedartown. Click

-Rome Beer Festival returns Sept. 18: The third edition again benefits the Rome Area Council for the Arts and is set for 1-5 p.m. at Heritage Park. The 2010 edition will feature 50-plus beers.
