Brenda Waltz, CEO of Redmond Regional, leaving Rome to take job in Mississippi

Brenda Waltz, CEO, is leaving Redmond Regional Medical Center

Waltz is leaving Rome to become the the new CEO of Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport, Mississippi, effective August 16. Garden Park Medical Center, a 130-bed acute facility in the HCA network, made the announcement today. No word yet on who will replace Waltz at Redmond. Release

Greater Rome Bank planning to open branch in Calhoun. According to a legal notice in today's RNT (search "Greater Rome Bank", notice RN730, RNT Legals) the bank has applied to the Georgia Dept. of Banking and Finance to open a branch at 305 West Belmont Drive in Calhoun. This would be the bank's fourth location and first outside of Floyd County. GRB previously had a location in Shannon, but closed it two years ago.

Update: Bank officials say the plans are preliminary right now and could take up to a year to be approved by regulators. "Given the length of time it is taking applications to be approved, we wanted to go ahead and get things started," says Kay Chumbler, senior vice president. "We would then have a year to act if things are approved."

All this comes on the heels of this week's resignation of former President and CEO Dwight Stout. The Board of Directors of Greater Rome Bank is meeting today for their regular monthly meeting. An interim president may be appointed to replace Stout. The Northwest Georgia region has seen a wave of executive changes at community banks in the past year. Business
