Chico's to exiled Rome customers--Come on down (to Cobb): Local regulars of the now-vacant Chico's store at Riverbend Center are receiving enticements to travel to the store at The Avenue West Cobb. Coupons for free earrings in February are followed by discounts or other specials in March, April and May. Chico's exited "The Boulevard Turner McCall" last month. As for the coupons: Not exactly in line with the chamber's "Shop Rome" campaign.

Teacher's Trunk closing in Cartersville: The store at 107-A S. Dixie Ave. is closing, citing "the climate of our economic times," according to an e-mail note sent to customers. "It has been our privilege and joy to serve each of you, and we thank you for your loyalty and support during our stay in Bartow County." An in-store sale is under way with discounts of 20 to 40 percent.

-Test sessions for applicants interested in working for the U.S. Census are set for Monday, Feb. 15, beginning at 8 a.m. the Cartersville Career Center, 19 Felton Place.
