-Veterans Day: A 20 percent chance of rain before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
-Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 43. North wind between 5 and 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
-Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. North wind between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Remembering those who served--Rome's Veterans' Day observance is today at 11 a.m. at Myrtle Hill. The keynote speaker: Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Cassville. The service is open to all. No mail today; financial centers closed.

More barbecue near Armuchee courtesy of an old friend: Look for updates soon on plans to get barbecue on the menu again in the Armuchee area. A familiar name is working on a spot near U.S. 27 North. Backyard Barbecue moved to Armuchee Village earlier this year but has since closed.

Off-season baseball fix: The Rome Braves host the Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours at Old Havana Cigar Bar, 602 E. Main St., on Thursday, Nov. 19, beginning at 5 p.m.> Chamber

-Holiday wine tasting set for Nov. 20 in Cartersville: A 'Taste of Cartersville' is set for 6:30 until 9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the future home of the Bartow History Museum. Sample foods from downtown restaurants and wines as well as gifts available at downtown Cartersville shops. Tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple. 21 and older, please. Lisa Poole will conduct the wine tasting; the Etowah Jazz Society will perform. Proceeds benefit the museum project and the Cartersville Downtown Development Authority.

-Toys for Tots set for Dec. 3 at The Palladium: The annual Toys for Tots live auction begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at The Palladium. -The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority is registering for Youth Basketball now through Monday.  Registration is open for boys and girls ages 5-14. Age divisions are 5-6 (coed instructional league), 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 (separate boys & girls teams).   The registration fee is $50 for ages 5-6 and $70 for ages 7-14.
