Most local banks see year-over-year increase in assets, deposits:

An early look at the June 30 assets and deposit statements from 13 locally based banks shows almost all reported increases in both categories compared to the previous year. Several reported decreases in one or both categories while several others broke even. A handful posted substantial gains. Holiday weekend preview:

-Look for fireworks in Rome on both Friday and Saturday nights. On Friday, fireworks at set following the conclusion of the Rome Braves-Augusta GreenJackets game (9:30 p.m. or so; Sports).
