  • Floyd, Polk residents the latest to die from coronavirus. Record number of new cases in Georgia - 6,149 - pushes state total to 500,265 since March 2. NW Georgia has 256 new cases. 129 in Floyd, Redmond on Friday. Voccio: Outbreak is 'extraordinarily bad.'
  • COVID on campus: Floyd Schools' quarantines at 698 as classes end Friday, down 32. 222 quarantines at Rome on Thursday, 2 new cases. Cartersville: 3 students test positive; 65 quarantined.
  • Health: Floyd Medical Center gets 3,900 doses of vaccine; first employee to receive a shot was critical care nurse Robin Cater. Harbin Clinic frontline physicians also receive vaccine.
  • Business: Greater Community Bank plans to double the size of the Calhoun office. Development Authority of Floyd County has called meeting at 10 a.m. Monday.
