Rome Little Theatre will present its production of 'Shakespeare in Hollywood' May 31 to June 9

Media release: Rome Little Theatre will present its production of "Shakespeare in Hollywood" May 31 to June 9 at the historic DeSoto Theatre in downtown Rome. Performances include Friday and Saturday evening shows at 8 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m.

"Shakespeare in Hollywood" is set in 1934, when Shakespeare's most famous fairies, Oberon and Puck, magically materialize on the Warner Brothers Hollywood set of Max Reinhardt's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Instantly smitten by the glitz and glamour of show business, the two are ushered onto the silver screen to play themselves. With a little help from a feisty little flower, blonde bombshells, and movie moguls, the two are tossed into loopy love triangles, with raucous results.

The cast features talented performers new to the RLT stage as well as veteran RLT actors, including Michael Hillman as Oberon, Desiree Cox as Puck, Chris Parker as Jack Warner, and Levi Burdick as Dick Powell/Albert Warner. The show is directed by Virginia McChesney and produced by Neal Brackett.

The performance on Saturday, June 8 will be "A Night for Debby," a special tribute performance for Debby Brown in honor of her many years of service and dedication to Rome Little Theatre and the Rome arts community. Brown passed away on Tuesday, May 21. All proceeds from this performance will go to her family.

Rome Little Theatre invites the community to experience the excitement and fun of live theater and the charm of the historic DeSoto Theatre and downtown Rome. Tickets are available through the theatre's new online ticketing system at romelittletheatre.com. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for students, seniors, and groups.
