Dalton's Roger Williams to represent Northwest Georgia on state transportation board

Media release: Dalton businessman Roger Williams, who served 22 years in the Georgia General Assembly's House of Representatives before retiring last year, was elected today to a five-year term on the State Transportation Board (STB).  Northwest Georgia General Assembly members whose legislative districts are in the state's new 14th Congressional District unanimously picked their former colleague for the post.

"I'm honored that my friends and former colleagues in the General Assembly have the confidence in me to select me for this important post," Mr. Williams commented.  "The things that make Northwest Georgia such a beautiful place to live and work are the same factors that give it such unique transportation challenges.  I look forward to working with the Board and the Legislature to address those challenges."

In his eleven terms, the popular Mr. Williams rose to become one of the General Assembly's most powerful figures.  He chaired the House's Regulated Industries Committee and was named one of the "100 Most Influential Georgians" by Georgia Trend Magazine last year.

Mr. Williams is President of Credit Services, Inc., in Dalton.  He serves on the Board of Directors of the Family Support Council; is on the Board of the Creative Arts Guild; and is a member of the American Legion, the Dalton Rotary Club and Saint Mark's Episcopal Church.
