Near-record heat Saturday, Sunday; a half inch or more of rain

-Saturday's high is forecast to be an April-like 76 degrees, 24 degrees warmer than our normal high of 52 for this time of year. Sunday will be almost as warm -- 74 degrees.

-Even the overnight lows will be near-record: 59 tonight, 55 Saturday night and 54 Sunday night. The normal for this time of year: 31 degrees.

-Rain: We'll see no more than six tenths of an inch of rain today through Sunday night, something we desperately need (see Drought Update below). Your forecast:

Mohawk Industries completes purchase of Pergo:
 Calhoun-based Mohawk announced in October it was buying Pergo, a leading manufacturer of premium laminate flooring, for $150 million.

-Still pending is Mohawk's purchase of Marazzi.
