Blaine Williams resigning as Floyd County Manager

Blaine Williams resigning as Floyd County Manager to take position in Athens-Clarke Co.

Williams has resigned as Floyd County Manager after just one year on the job to become an Assistant Manager for the Athens-Clarke County Consolidated Government. Williams will leave Floyd effective Dec. 31, 2012. The Athens Clarke County government is roughly 2 ½ times the size of the Floyd County government, with approximately 1,500 employees and a $100 million General Fund budget.
"It has been rewarding to serve the citizens of Rome and Floyd County and to work with so many talented and dedicated employees," said Williams. "I will genuinely miss this community and the people who make this a great place to live."

-Williams was named County Manager in January after serving for four years as Assistant Manager. He replaced former County Manager Kevin Poe who left last December to take helm in Jackson County, which neighbors Athens-Clarke. A search will soon be underway to replace Williams.
