Sept. 3: Action Dash adds sponsors, chair

Media release: Cyndi Westmoreland, vice president of community banking at Regions Bank, has been named chair of the first-ever Action Dash in Rome and is issuing a call for volunteers to assist with the new event that enables everyone to be an Action Hero.

Sponsored by Action Ministries, a nonprofit organization with locations in major cities across North Georgia, Action Dash is a family-friendly 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run and will be held on Labor Day, September 3, 2012. Proceeds from the event will help Action Ministries provide the hunger, housing and education solutions that help our neighbors in need move toward independence.

"Inside of each of us there is an Action Hero seeking to break free," said Westmoreland. "An Action Hero is an ordinary person who goes out of their way to help someone in need or is someone in need who works through adversity toward self-sufficiency. By participating in Action Dash, you can become one too!"

In Rome, Action Dash will be held at Rome Braves Stadium, 755 Braves Boulevard NE with the following schedule:

6:30 a.m. - Race packet pick up and on-site registration

8:00 a.m. - 5K begins

8:45 a.m. - 1 mile Fun Run begins

9:30 a.m. - Awards Ceremony

Racers are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Action Hero costumes and run, walk, or stroll to raise awareness about Georgia's poverty-related challenges. Forming a team is a great way to get your friends and family involved.

Event and registration information is available at www.actiondash.org. Join Action Dash online and follow it at www.facebook.com/ActionDash and https://twitter.com/ActionDash1.

Sponsors of this year's event in Rome include Kauffman Tire, Lockheed Martin, Ed Voyles Automotive, Regions Bank, Powerade Zero, Larabar, Advance Rehab ad Redmond Sports Health and Georgia Power.
