Mohawk honored at 2012 American Business Awards

Media release: Mohawk Industries was presented with three silver and two bronze Stevie Awards at the tenth annual American Business Awards ceremony in New York.

The American Business Awards are the nation's premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the United States are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

Nicknamed the "Stevies" from the Greek word for "crowned," the awards were announced during a gala banquet on Monday, June 18 at New York's Marriott Marquis Hotel on Broadway.  More than 500 nominees and their guests attended.  The presentations were broadcast live via the Business TalkRadio Network.

More than 3,000 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories.
Mohawk's Corporate Communication Team received a silver Stevie for Communication Department of the Year.

"This award reflects the exceptional talent of the men and women in Mohawk's corporate communication team," said Robert Webb, senior director of public affairs and corporate communication. "Every day, these dedicated professionals make outstanding contributions to the company's success."Stephen Grass, communication director, individually received a silver Stevie for his work as the architect of the company's myMohawk Intranet and for writing, producing and directing the "Johnny's Diner" series of employee benefits videos.

"Stephen's innovative ideas and commitment to helping people receive the information they need set him apart," said Webb. "He is a thought leader in the electronic delivery of information and a driver of engagement in our organization."Mohawk's YourChoice Plan Project Team was honored with a silver Stevie as Communication Team of the Year for a comprehensive overview of health care plan changes, and the YourChoice Plan campaign received a bronze Stevie for Communication or PR Campaign/Program of the Year.The Corporate Communication team and the company's Human Resources staff were recognized with a bronze Stevie in the category of Communication or PR Campaign of the Year (Issues Management) for the campaign to address rising employee health care costs."The projects that earned these awards demanded significant time, energy and talent from our team," said Webb. "It's humbling to receive recognition from this leading business awards program. I'm honored to work with such an extraordinary group of professionals."

Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 270 executives nationwide who participated in the judging process this year.
