Feb. 10: Cave Spring Rehabilitation Center Ribbon Cutting Event

Media release: State of Labor Commissioner Mark Butler today announced that
a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held for the Georgia Department of Labor's
(GDOL) Cave Spring Rehabilitation Center on Friday, Feb. 10, at 11a.m.

The new facility, located at 7 Georgia Ave., Cave Spring, in the northwest
Georgia mountains, was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
and was completed in 18 months.

"After much work, this vision has become a reality," Commissioner Butler
said. "I am very pleased to announce that Georgia's newest facility,
designed to help ensure people with disabilities have the same shot at the
American Dream as anyone else, will begin serving clients soon."

The center is a residential job training facility for adults with
disabilities. The center will serve people with various disabilities but
will focus primarily on individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. CSRC
staff are skilled in signed communications and will work individually with
students to ensure they become successfully employed and self-supporting.

Students throughout Georgia are referred to this facility by their local
Vocational Rehabilitation counselors.

After an initial evaluation to determine the students' skill and
employability levels, students will enroll in specific programs for their
needs. Students will learn how to develop job leads, resume skills,
interview skills and job retention training. Additional education or
training will be available for students who need GED programs, vocational or
technical school classes or traditional college classes.

Students learn in a residential program where they will develop life skills
including budgeting, comparative shopping, cooking and social skills –
skills that are essential to the ability to become self-supporting,
tax-paying contributors in the community. Many students may obtain a driver's
license through the specialized driver's education program.

The new CSRC facility includes a building for training and administration as
well as a dormitory building. New state of the art greenhouses have been
built as has an amphitheater for the students to enjoy concerts and other
events.

Tours of the new facility will be conducted following the
ceremony.______________________
