Boy Scouts collecting food to help area hungry

Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts collect can goods to supply local food pantries

Floyd, Polk, Chattooga Counties, Georgia (February 7th)

Media release: The Boy Scouts of America in Floyd, Polk and Chattooga Counties are part of a coordinated effort to help the hungry. Throughout the month of February Scouts will be collecting food. There will be some drop off locations in local stores and at some schools. On February 4th, scouts canvassed local neighborhoods and left door hangers requesting donations. Scouts will revisit those neighborhoods to pick up the donations this Saturday, February 11th from 9:00 am to 12:00pm. If they visited your home then please remember to leave your donation outside your door.

You can still donate even if a Scout did not come to your home. The local collection point/drop off will be at the West Rome Wal-Mart parking lot near the statue on Saturday, February 11th. We will start collecting at 11:00am and should finish by 1:30pm. All donations go to support the local food pantries.

Drop off locations in Summerville and Cedartown will be at their local Wal-Mart's

Please help our local food pantries by supporting the Boy Scouts of Floyd, Polk and Chattooga Counties in this much needed service project by donating some can food.

Please contact Michael Lockwood at (706) 266-8668 for more information.
