Two Pepperell High School students have earned All-State Band honors for 2012

Media release: Two Pepperell High School students have earned All-State Band honors for 2012.  Candice Rittenhouse, a senior, and Caleb Cole, a sophomore, have been selected for the state honor.  Rittenhouse, the Dragon band's drum major, will play contra-alto clarinet in the All-State Symphonic Band for juniors and seniors.  Cole will play the French horn in the Concert Band for freshman and sophomores.  The GEMA All-State Band Festival will be held March 1-3 in Savannah.

More than 450 students from the 45 high schools just in the Northwest Georgia region auditioned for All-State Band.  There are thirteen other regions with similar numbers of band students auditioning so to be selected for this honor at the state level is tremendous.  To have two from the same school selected in the same year is exceptional.  To earn acceptance in to All-State Band, students are required to play lyrical and technical etudes and sight-read for a panel of judges.
